Right from the scenario, we offer producers and directors continuous support to find the most effective solutions between on set techniques and digital magic.
We operate as main vendor for a variety of projects and collaborate regularly with others, whether to provide a complement to our services or for capacity reasons on larger productions. On set, we work with production teams to promptly find the best procedures to optimize the end result.
Over the years, our research and development team has developed an efficient production pipeline and image processing applications to our artist’s delight. Having a dedicated R&D team to develop proprietary tools to meet challenges head on is a very valuable asset to have.
MELS is Canada's largest provider of services to the film and television industry. Services include visual effects, DI, picture and sound post-production, a photochemical laboratory and image restoration, 18 purpose built stages, cameras and lighting, management and production of deliverables for distribution and broadcast via film, television, internet and mobile telephony networks.
Benoit joined the studio in 2015 after working at Framestore as General Manager for 2 years and at Rodeo FX as a Director of Operations for 4 years. His experience and leadership make him the best person to lead our studio and reassure our customers when it comes to deliver state of the art images.
Cynthia has over 15 years of experience in the field of visual effects production. She joined the studio in 2013 after working for several studios, including a 5 years stay at BUF in Europe. Her knowledge and rigor allow Cynthia to prevent production issues and ensure the supervision of our projects in the best conditions.
After more than 10 years spent at Studio Mokko, which he is the co-founder, Alain decided to join our studio to make us benefit from his 30 years of experience in the visual effects industry. The quality of his work earned him several nominations, the most recent one is the Best Visual Effects category at the Canadian Screen Awards for the feature film Endorphine.
Jonathan joined the studio in 2011 after he had work for Rodeo FX and Lumière VFX. After 10 years working in the industry as a Compositor, his energy and knowledge enable him to produce incredible images, but also to keep the teams stimulated every day.
Nathalie Girard has over 20 years of experience in visual effects. Her passion for VFX began at an early age, when she saw Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope for the first time in 1977.
After graduating from the NAD Centre in Montreal with a degree in animation in 1998, Nathalie gradually turned towards digital image compositing and learned Eddie, Flame, Inferno, Shake and Nuke. She subsequently spent 10 years in California with the leading VFX firm Industrial Light and Magic, where she worked with big names including George Lucas, John Knoll, Denis Murren, Ben Snow, Roger Guyett, Jeff White, Pat Tubach and Scott Farrar.
Nathalie has worked on the visual effects for projects such as Transformers, Avatar, the Harry Potter franchise, Iron Man, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. In addition to her impressive organizational skills, she brings passion, commitment and hard work to all her projects.
Since returning to Canada several years ago, Nathalie has held VFX supervisory and team leader positions, and has also worked on film shoots and acquired on-set experience.
